4 SILENT ENEMIES OF WIPER BLADES
The premature wear of a windshield wiper blade is caused by four main factors: excessive cold, which makes the rubber stiff and brittle; heat and UV rays, which dry and crack it; smog, which alters its chemical composition; and dust, which accelerates abrasion. To ensure optimal visibility, it is recommended to replace the wiper blades at least once a year.
Ice and low temperatures harden the rubber, compromising its flexibility and reducing its adherence to the windshield.
Exposure to UV rays and high temperatures chemically degrades the rubber, causing the formation of micro-cracks and/or deformations.
Accumulated dust and mud act as micro-abrasive agents on the rubber profile, accelerating the deterioration of the wiping surface.
Smog contains aggressive chemicals such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, and hydrocarbons, which interact with the rubber, altering its composition and accelerating its wear.
